New Pocket Knife... New Lanyard

My wife accused me of buying a new knife just so I could make a new lanyard for it. That's not quite the case, I needed a new pocket knife. But I had to make a new lanyard for it ;-). It's a 4 strand braid in black leather, with a spanish ring knot at the knife end in brown and a pineapple knot on the other end in tan.

Braided Paracord Something

I'm not quite sure what to call this. It started out as a way to try out a few techniques and turned into a short piece of braided paracord with an eye on one end and a button on the other. The second photo is an action shot, modeled by our Miniature Schnauzer Jet. It's just about 18 inches long, a comfortable size for Jet, but a little short to fit around my neck.

Braided Paracord

I'm not sure what to call this. I guess it's a keyfob. I was really just practicing the joining of two braids into one. The eye is a 4 strand braid, and the ends join into an 8 strand braid. On the bottom I tied a Little Lump Knot. I was hoping to make it a little longer, but I cut the strands a bit too short (it really just started as an exercise rather than a project). If I do this again I'll make it longer, and maybe use a thimble in the eye. Then to hold the thimble in place maybe I'll tie a Turk's Head around the base.

Braided Accessory Cord Keyfob

Here's a braided keyfob I made as a gift. It was just a quickie photo I snapped before giving it away. The looped part is a 4 strand braid. The two large knots are both Tuk's Heads with Herringbone Interweaves, but the bottom one has a different color used as the interweave cord. The spacers are Spanish Ring Knots. It was done using Wellington Sportsman Cord which only comes in black, orange and camo.

Another Bellrope Keyfob

Here's a simpler keyfob I made some time ago. It required a lot less time and materials. It was made with Bluewater brand 2mm accessory cord from a climbing store. I find that cord very stiff. It's actually better suited for smaller items like zipper pulls. I'll post a pic of one of those soon.

Welcome!

I hope you enjoy viewing my knotted items as much as I enjoy making them. If you're interested in something or just want to chat please comment! Here's a photo of a miniature bellrope keyfob to start things off.
